MCLS Reads Open Book

In a few short weeks we will see 2018 come to a close. Now is the time to look towards 2019 and some of the exciting things the library is planning.

One of the big events that will kick off the new year is the new MCLS Reads.

Starting January 1 the Chilton Public Library and the Manitowoc-Calumet Library System libraries will be hosting a Community Book Read. It is an opportunity for the greater Manitowoc and Calumet communities to come together and discuss and participate in activities through March 31.

The book selected is the New York Times bestseller, The Death and Life of the Great Lakes by Dan Egan. Egan’s book, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and Notable Book of the Year 2017, is a thought-provoking look at Erie, Huron, Michigan, Ontario, and Superior and the problems that face them.

We are looking forward to some thought-provoking book disucssions and engaging events throughout the whole Manitowoc-Calumet country area.

I read the post about the 2019 Community Read and how it brings people together through one shared book. It made me think of my own school library days when everyone discussed the same story and shared different ideas. During that time I once used phython assignment help so I could finish my work early and join group reading talks without stress. It shows how reading together can build connection and make learning feel more meaningful.
