Thank you for your interest in supporting lifelong literacy and learning. There are many ways to support the Chilton Public Library. We can put your donation to work right away!
Supporting the Chilton Public Library gives you the opportunity to make a local and lasting impact on our community. When you support the Library with your time or with a financial donation, you are making a statement about the importance of the Library in your life and the lives of others.
Your tax-deductible contribution helps advance library services, builds collections, and improves technology and facilities.
Join the Friends of the Chilton Public Library
The Friends group provides volunteer help and supplemental funds for special projects and collections that the Library could not otherwise afford. For more information click here.
Volunteers provide essential support for library functions, including mailings, research - even gardening!
Donations of Books or Materials
Give your gently used books, CDs, and videos new life by donating them to the Chilton Public Library and the Friends of the Library for circulation use or for annual book sales. Proceeds fund special projects, programs, and facilities improvements. Contributions are tax-deductible.
Please be aware that acceptance of donations are subject to library policy and the director's discretion.
Donations to the library generally qualify for tax deductions. IRS Publication 526 states that “Money or property given to federal, state, and local governments, if your contribution is solely for public purposes” is deductible (page 2).
Donations to the library are deductible because the library is a department of a local department and donations would be for public purposes. Further, this IRS page http://www.irs.gov/Government-Entities/Federal,-State-&-Local-Governments/GovernmentalInformation-Letter (accessed, 2/2/15) states: Charitable contributions to governmental units are taxdeductible under section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code if made for a public purpose.
