Thursdays from 3:30-5:00 pm.
May 2 - 30, 2019
The skills of planning, design, and collaboration will be emphasized as we have fun being creative using the sandbox computer-based game “Minecraft”. There will be opportunities for group work and individual play as well as experience using a LAN based gaming network.
*Please note!! Each participant should have their own PC Minecraft account through Mojang and have it set up and functioning BEFORE coming to the club. We will not be able to create accounts in the Club. There are a few library accounts available for use if a participant does not have a Minecraft account.
Open to those in grades 3-5.
What is Minecraft?
Minecraft is often described as a ‘sandbox game’. This means that it’s a virtual land where users can create their own worlds and experiences, using building blocks, resources discovered on the site and their own creativity.
The game is available on multiple platforms. You can play on a computer, smartphone, tablet, X Box or Playstation. It is growing in popularity day by day, especially among primary-aged children.
Minecraft’s focus on creatively building and exploring could help children build their problem solving, planning and organisation skills. And kids who play with their friends might find it improves their ability to work as a team.
