Craft Supplies Needed - Imagine Your Science Story

Younger Projects

 

Thaumatrope (early animation device)Materials:

  • Downloadable Templates for Round and Square Thaumatropes

  • Hole Puncher (only needed for round thaumatrope)

  • Pencil (only needed for for square thaumatrope)

  • 2 Rubber Bands (for round thaumatrope)

  • Scissors

  • Colored pencils, markers, and/or crayons (optional)

  • Scotch tape

Balloon Rocket Materials:

  • Balloons in various shapes and sizes

  • Drinking Straws

  • Masking Tape or Painters Tape

  • Yarn, string, or fishing line

  • Two chairs (or something to tie each end of the string to)

  • Binder Clips (optional)

 

Older Projects

Phenokistoscope (another early animation device) Materials:

  • Downloadable Phenokistoscope Templates

  • Pencil with an eraser

  • Thumbtack

  • Scissors

  • Colored pencils, markers, optional

  • Mirror (a bathroom mirror is fine)

 

Solar Oven (This one requires parental help and supervision) Materials:

  • Pizza Box (or a cereal box)

  • Black construction paper

  • Aluminum foil

  • Scissors

  • Tape

  • Plastic wrap

  • Craft Knife (optional and with supervision)

  • S’mores: Marshmallows Chocolate Bar Graham Crackers
