Manitowoc-Calumet Community Read
The public libraries in Brillion, Chilton, Kiel, Manitowoc, New Holstein, and Two Rivers will join together to invite you to participate in our first two-county community read program beginning in January of 2019.
A community read program promotes literacy while also engaging an entire community in a common reading theme and experience.
This reading initiative will highlight the book, The Death and Life of the Great Lakes, written by journalist and author Dan Egan, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The chosen title focuses on the catastrophic dangers currently facing the Great Lakes, while also offering possible solutions to preserve our lakes for future generations.
The libraries will be hosting book groups, featured speakers on topics concerning the lakes and water conservation, community enrichment events, musical performances and much more throughout the winter and spring of 2019.
Copies of the "Death and Life of the Great Lakes", in both paper and online versions, will be available for check out as of January 1, 2019.
